Buxus japonica, Muell. Are. (B. obcordata, Hort. B. Fortunei, Hort.). Shrub, 6ft., with spreading branches: Lvs. cuneate, obovate or roundish obovate, obtuse or emarginate at the apex, ½-1¼in. long, light green with glabrous petioles: clusters axillary; staminate fls. sessile, with a central gland as long as the calyx. China, Japan. S.I.F. 2:38.—Very distinct with its spreading slender branches and light green, lustrous foliage.
