Rubia tinctorum, Linn. (R. tincatoria, Salisb.). Madder. A scandent herbaceous perennial: lvs. 2-4 in. long, sessile or very short-petioled, mostly lanceolate, not cordate, in whorls of 4-6: cymes terminal, panicled, spreading, leafy. F. W. Barclay. F. Tracy Hubbard.
