Climbing, to 6 ft.; glabrous: lvs. glaucescent. subcoriaceous; lfts. broadly ovate, often obtuse, subcordate, 1½-3 in. long: fls. solitary, pitcher-shaped, nodding, carmine or scarlet, glabrous outside: achenes with plumose style, 1-2 in. long, glabrous at the tip.
