Viburnum japonicum, Spreng. (V. macrophyllum, Blume). Evergreen upright shrub, to 6 ft., with glabrous branches: lvs. broadly or rhombic-ovate to oblong-ovate, acute or shortly acuminate, remotely dentate except at the base, 3-6 in. long: fls. in short-peduncled, glabrous cymes 2-4 in. broad: fr. globose, red. June. Japan.—Handsome large-lvd. shrub, but not hardy N.
