Chalcas (from Greek for copper, as the wood has a copper-colored grain). Murraea of Koenig. Rutaceae. Small spineless trees or shrubs, suggested as a stock for citrus fruits. Leaves pinnate, alternate: fls. large, 4-5-merous, solitary or in terminal or axillary cymes; ovary 1-5- celled, with 1 to several ovules: seeds white, woolly or glabrous, cotyledons aerial in germination: first foliage lvs. opposite.
