Hidalgoa wercklei, Hook. (Childsia wercklei, 3. L. Childs). Climbing Dahlia. Tall, woody at base, much branched, climbing by petioles: lvs. opposite, pin- nairly ternatisect. 1 ½ - 2 ½ in. long, 2 m. wide, the teeth tipped reddish brown; petiole l ½ -2 in. long, coiled at base: peduncle axillary, as long as the lvs., 1-fld.; rays about 10, "dazzling orange-scarlet."
