Hoffmannia discolor, Hemsl. (CampylAbolrys discolor, Hook.). Fig. 1843. About 6 in. high, but lopping over the side of the pot or pan and making a mat, slightly hairy, the branches purplish: Ivs. short-petioled, oblong-obovate, entire, satiny green above and rich light purple to green beneath: fls. small, red, in recurving racemes, on red peduncles. Mex. B.M. 4530.—Excellent little plant.
