Iresine herbstii is a species of flowering plant in the amaranth family, Amaranthaceae.

Iresine herbstii, Hook. f. (Achyranthes verschaffeltii, Lem.). Lvs. broadly ovate or orbicular, obtuse and notched at the apex, purple-red, with prominent arched veins, or in the commoner variety green or green-red with yellow veins (var. aureo-reticulata). S. Amer. There are horticultural varieties with Latin names. I. wallisii, Ort., is a small form, with numerous small roundish lvs., which are bronze-red or dark red above and dark blood-red beneath. I. brilliantiissima, has rich crimson color.
