Iris tenax, Douglas. Sheaths short: lvs. 6-12 in. long: st. 6-12 in. long: pedicel ½ -2 in. long: outer segm. broadly obovate, with an acute point; blade about as long as the claw, bright lilac, with purple veins and a variegated white and yellow spot on the throat; inner segms. shorter, waved. April, May. Dry soils, Brit. Col. and Ore. Intro, to England 1826. B.M. 3343. B.R. 1218. Gn. 53:518. G.M. 50:867.—Hardy.
