Lagurus (Greek, lagos, a hare; oura, a tail). Gramineae. Hare's-Tail Grass. A hardy annual: spikelets 1-fld., aggregated in a close panicle forming an ovoid head; scarious glumes persistent and clothed with fine woolly hairs: lemma with a dorsal awn.—Contains a single species, native of the Medit. region, cult, for ornament, the small white heads being used for dry bouquets. Seeds may be sown in fall and plants set out in spring.CH
