Lilium nepalense, D. Don (L. ochroleucum, Wall.). Bulb similar to that of L. neilgherrense: st. smooth, 2-4 ft. high: leaves 30-50, erect or nearly so, 2-4 in. long, 1/2-3/4 in. wide: fls. l-7, semi-horizontal or nearly pendulous, 4—5 in. long, nearly as wide, delicately fragrant, about half of each segm. at the base, inside, is bright, reddish purple, while the remainder of the interior is pale citron-yellow, next to the solid purple there are usually a few spots of the same color on the yellow background; anthers yellow. Aug., Sept. Himalaya Mts. from Nepaul to N. Burma. — Rarely seen in culture except by specialists, and only suitable for pots. CH
