Lonicera syringantha, Maxim. Upright slender-branched shrub, glabrous: lvs. elliptic to oblong, obtuse or acutish, dull bluish green. ½ -l in. long: peduncle 1/5 in. long; cupule shorter than ovaries; calyx-teeth lanceolate; corolla tubular-funnelform, ½ in. long, pale rosy lilac, fragrant; stamens and style included: fr. red. May, June: fr. in Aug. W. China. Var. Wolfii, Rehd. Branches more spreading, often procumbent: lvs. narrower, usually acute: fls. lilac-carmine. W. China.—Very graceful shrub producing its fragrant fls. profusely.
