Maba sandwicensis, A. DC. Attractive tree, 20-10 ft.: lvs. thick and leathery, dull green, elliptic or ovate - oblong, distichous: fls. single or the males rarely clustered, small, the corolla 3- toothed and densely hairy on upper half; male fls. with 12-18 free stamens: fr. dry or somewhat fleshy, usually 1- seeded at maturity, bright reddish yellow. Hawaii (where it is known as "lama") and Fiji; offered in S.Calif.
