Mammillaria mazatlanensis, Schum. (M. littoralis. Brandeg.). Plants growing in dense clusters, much branched at base: sts. globular to short cylindrical: spines numerous, usually brown and completely hiding the plant. West coast of Mex.; sometimes erroneously referred to Calif.—This species does not do well in cult.
