Maxillaria variabilis, Batem. (M. angustifolia, Hook.). Pseudobulbs oval, compressed: lvs. solitary, plane, linear-oblong, obtuse or emarginate: fls. solitary, small, deep purple; sepals linear-oblong, acute, the lateral ones produced at the base; petals sub similar; labellum oblong, retuse, fleshy, membranous at the base; disk with a small callus. Midwinter. Mex. B.M. 3614 (as M. Henchmanni).—A small plant, of interest only to collectors.
