Petalostemum candidum, Michx. (Dalea Candida, Willd.). White Prairie Clover. Plants glabrous: sts. erect or rarely prostrate, simple or sparingly branched, 1-2 ft. tall: lfts. 5-9, the blades linear, oblong or oblanceolate, 3/8-1 1/8 ln- long acute, or mucronulate, glandular beneath, more or less cuneate at base, very short- stalked: peduncles terminal, elongated, bractea; spikes cylindric, 1-4 in. long, about 1/2in. thick; bracts aculeate, longer than the calyx; corolla white, 2-3 lines long; wings and keel oval; standard cordate; calyx- teeth and pod slightly pubescent.
