Phoenix paludosa, Roxbg. In groups in the wild state, almost tree-like: trunks 8-25 ft. high, 3-4 in. diam., often reclining, annulate: lvs. 8-10 ft.; lfts. 1-2 ft.,opposite and alternate, 2-ranked, ensiform, with filiform tips, whitish or mealy beneath; petioles 3-5 ft. long, slender, scurfy, with many long spines; sheath fibrous: fr. black-purple.
