Prunus maackii, Rupr. (Laurocerasus Maackii, Schneid.). Tree, to 50 ft., with shoots finely pubescent or becoming glabrate: lvs. oblong to oblong-ovate or elliptic, acuminate and pointed (2—4 in. long), finely and very sharply glandular-serrate, glabrous, gland-dotted beneath, with 1 or 2 large glands near base of blade or at apex of the petiole (which is 3/8-3/4in long): fls. appearing on the ends of leafless shoots, white, long-stalked, less than 1/2in. across, the racemes 2-3 in. long and dense (1-1 1/2 in. long).
