Rhododendron canescens, Don (Azalea canescens, Michx.). Shrub, 1-3 ft.: similar to the preceding: lvs. oval to elliptic or obovate, soft-pubescent beneath, at least when young, 1 1/2-3 in. long: pedicels glandular: fls. pink to nearly white, 1 1/2-2 in. broad, glandular outside, very fragrant; stamens slightly exserted. April, May. N.H. to Fla. and La.
