Ruellia makoyana, Hort. A compact bushy plant resembling R. Devosiana, Hort., in foliage, but differing in the color of the fls. (bright carmine) and by their somewhat larger size. Brazil. R.B. 21:109. R. H. 1896:576.— Prefers shade. It is said that the color of the foliage is better when soot is mixed with the soil.
