Saxifraga trifurcata, Schrad. Perennial, loosely cespitose, 4-8 in. high, with slightly shrubby leafy caudicles covered with old reflexed lvs.: fl.-sts. erect, glabrous: lvs. dark gray-green, viscid, twice as long as the petioles, palmately 3-parted, nerved, the lateral lobes of the blade sub-3-divided, the midlobe cuneate, 3-toothed, with the teeth mucronulate; cauline lvs. few, shorter-petioled, 3-parted; bracts linear, acute: infl. loosely paniculate; pedicels long: fls. milk-white, numerous; calyx glabrous, the lobes lanceolate, acute; petals obovate-oblong, 3-nerved, nearly 3 times the length of the calyx-lobes: fr. ovate. May. Spain.—A quick grower, which is frequently cult. abroad and which is also useful for pot cult. Var. ceratophylla, Hort. (S. ceratophylla, Dry.). Lvs. rigid and more deeply parted than the type and rather glaucous: fls. white, in lax panicles. June. Spain. CH
