Sinomenium acutum, Rehd. & Wilson (S. diversifolium, Diels. Menispermum acutum, Thunb. Cocculus diversifolius, Miq., not DC. C. heterophyllus, Hemsl. & Wilson. C. variifolius, Hort.). Twining, to 20 ft.: branchlets terete, striped, glabrous: lvs. long-stalked, ovate, acuminate, usually cordate at the base, palmately 5-7-nerved, entire or palmately lobed, rarely sagittate with 2 lobes at the base only, glabrous, 4-7 in. long: fls. 1/5 in. across, greenish, in slender panicles 4-8 in. long: drupes compressed, bluish black, 1/3 in. across, in pendulous panicles to 8 in. long. June; fr. in Sept. and Oct. Japan and China. G.C. III.52:411. Var. cinereum, Rehd. & Wilson.
