Statice caespitosa, Ort., not Poir. (Armeria caespitosa, Boiss. A. bella, Hort., not Alboff. A. caespitosa var. vera, Hort.). Forming dense cushions: lvs. very short, narrowly linear, triquetrous, short, white-mucronate: scape pubescent; involucral lvs. brownish: fls. in small heads, blush-pink or pale lilac. Mountains of Spain and Portugal. B.M. 7596.—S. caespitosa, Poir., equals S. Armeria; probably at least some of the material grown as S. caespitosa is that species. CH
