Utricularia janthina, Hook. f. Epiphytic Brazilian species growing in the lf .-axils of a bromeliad (Vriesia), with kidney-shaped lvs. and beautiful pale blue or lilac fls. 1 1/2 in. across, ornamented by 2 vertical yellow lines on the palate edged with dark violet: lvs. with stalks 4-6 in. long and blades 2-4 in. across: scape about 6-fld.: upper lip hemispheric, arching: lower lip transversely oblong, entire.
