Yucca aloifolia, Linn. (Y. serrulata, Haw. Y. crenulata, Haw.). Slenderly caulescent: lvs. dagger-like, very pungent: fr. black-purple, without a core. W. Indies and Mex. to Va. and around the Gulf. With lvs. yellow-margined it is f. marginata, Bommer. With lvs. yellow or white in the center it is f. tricolor, Bommer, also often known as Y. tricolor, Y. quadricolor, because shaded with red when young, and Y. medio-picta. Y. aloifolia Menandii, Trel., is a very narrow-lvd. form of this.
